Sangkeertan
Sangkeertan was born in 1963 and carries a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. A lawyer married to a professional violinist, he manages a law firm in Upper Austria, has to care for his four kids, and since 2007 has also become a grandfather. He was professionally trained to be a pianist. The fact that pianos are not exactly a staple in the ensemble Arthada & Friends doesn’t bother Sangkeertan too much, as he is an excellent player of the harmonium, the cello and also plays others instruments like the hammered dulcimer. The ensemble usually makes use of his cello skills; on the one hand, there are already enough harmonium players, on the other, the beautiful and deep sound of the cello perfectly makes for the bass parts and takes the hearts of lovers of spiritual music by storm. Moreover, Sangkeertan is an outstanding singer and plays classic music in a symphony orchestra – hence his professional approach. In recording sessions, working with him is pure pleasure. He plays his part (he gets a least the bass parts of the titles) flawlessly at the first try, so the session with him usually takes no longer than a day. Which is good because the family man doesn’t have more time anyway. By the way, his kids are excellent musicians as well. His wife and one of his daughters contributed to the creation of the CD “Love Devotion Surrender“. His clear-cut face and almost stern look at first may remind you of a strict and conservative high-school principal, but that impression is false. Sangkeertan is a very sociable and uncomplicated chum. It does not take a lot of talking to organize beautiful and meaningful projects with him. He’s a great addition to the ensemble! Too bad that his many earthly responsibilities frequently keep him from performing and touring with the group.
