The album "Love, Devotion, Surrender" (CD No. IV) was recorded in the Lotus Seminarzentrum in fall 2005. As usual, three group members from Heidelberg and three from Linz came over for a weekend in Vienna. In between and during recording sessions, we meditated extensively in order to bring to bear the highest consciousness we were able to reach. This album was new ground for us in several aspects: A group of girls and young ladies, who have dedicated their lives to Yoga and like the members of Arthada & Friends have been meditating daily for many years, appeared as guest singers, extending and enriching the range of our music. We also experimented a lot with the sound itself. Mixing the CD took another several months. When we were finally satisfied with the result, we sent the copy to a professional audio engineer in the middle of nowhere in Slovakia. He beefed up individual tracks by using fine-tuned equalizer settings to accentuate them. It was an interesting undertaking in that the man had an acute sense of hearing but didn’t speak a word of English. Gesturing and grimacing we nonetheless arrived at a satisfying result after a couple of days. On the one hand, the album features very simple, intense and soulful songs, which touch the listener’s soul. On the other hand, it has “flowing”, “floating” and cheerful pieces, some of which are laced with quite virtuosic instrumental interludes. This makes the album not only interesting for dedicated followers of an inner path but probably also for a broader audience.
